I have 2 problems. The first came about when I brought my car in for inspection and the mechanic grabbed the front passenger side wheel and was able to shake it left and right. He showed me that the drivers side was imovable.
He then told me that I need a new inner tie rod. Since he is not my mechanic I told not to do anything and will take the car to the mechanic later.
I wanted to know if what this guy was saying sounds right.
Also I have tranny issues. The care kicks when a start driving from standing. It is rather anoying. I was thinking of doing a tranny flush. I wanted to ask you guys before I go do it.

your car does not have the HID lights?
-
Check wether the lights are aimed properly. If one is up then it will give the apperance of being brighter since it is point higher. check at night. both have to be iluminating the road ahead.

check the gas cap, make sure it is on right. had that problem on an ml430 once

They are adjustable, but I'd let a mechanic do it. The auto leveling should work automatically.
My mechanic was terrrified to touch them, this after he did all my brakes and replaced the strut mount.
My whole front end was replaced due to a collision. How do i kick in the auto leveling?
Also I looked up the adjustment, however it is confusing and hard to find the screw for adjustment.
I called my local dealership (bay ridge lexus), they want $50 and the car for the whole day.

how can i adjust the headlight? One is pinting up and the other is pointing down. This is after the car was repaired so these are new headlights.
how do i kick in the auto aim that it is suppose to have?
thank you

Hi all,
First post. Tried searching for my particular situation but to no avail.
Bought my first ever Lexus (2000 ES 300, 56K miles) CPO from Reinhardt Lexus in Montgomery, AL on May 29. Two days later, one of of the two main remote keys busts in my hand (the key was wobbly to start with) as I'm starting the car, and the car will not start (crank) at all. Everything else electrical still works. I have it towed to my nearest dealership (Jackson, MS--I live in Hattiesburg, 90 miles away) the next morning, where the service tech informs he can start it 10 times in a row. Fortunately, the Montgomery dealership will send me a replacement which the Jackson dealership will reprogram for me. I drive up, get the car and have no problems until. . .
The following Sunday morning. Now that I'm down to one remote key and one Valet key, I'd been using the valet, and I let my wife have the remote key. I use the valet key and open the passenger door, putting stuff in the front seat, and unlocking all the doors from the button on the inside of the front passenger door. I then walk to the driver door enter, and the car will not start again. Same situation as a few days earlier. An hour later, using the remote key, and unlocking the door using the remote unlock, I enter the car, and get nothing at all on the first two attempts. On the third, I get the faintest hint of cranking. On the fourth and all subsequent attempts, no problems.
Are these problems in starting likely related to the keys' security system? Are there other likely culprits? Should I always use the remote keys to enter/start the car? Any ideas are appreciated.
When it rides, though, oh it's nice. . . .
Thanks,
Greg Underwood
Is the good key and the valet key w/ holder close to each other?
the valet key holder hasa transponder chip in it and may interfere with the other transponder chip in the main key.
if you put in the valet key and hold the holder next to the key, wait a few seconds and try to start it up, make sure the other key is not in the car.

I see the bumper and headlights on ebay all the time, I dunno about the rest.
For the lock, I don't know what brand you have, but the ones I had (McGard I think?) if you didn't send in the registration and stuff when you got them, there was no way to replace them.
the lock is the one from factory

Well I crashed my lexus the other day.
I was driving down a street and some lady slammed on her brakes in the middle of an intersection and you know the rest. Air bags did not deploy.
Based on new york insurance laws it is automatically my fault. I did not report just paid for the damages for her car and now i have to fix mine.
I need 2 new xenon headlights, new hood, new bumper cover. Radiator support will have to most likely be pulled.
Now there is a rattle noise as a drive and hit little bumps coming from the right side. I don't know if it is from the accident or a tire blow out i suffered a few days after the accident on the brooklyn bridge. Luckily I was driving slow.
I barley make it off the bridge and then the fun starts. I go to take the wheel off and find the key lock is striped on the inside. So I call roadside assistance. They come in 4 hours and tow me to a tire shope which spends 2 hours getting the stupid lock off.
Here are my questions:
Where can I get the parts i need to fix the car? Should I attempt to put on 05 headlights and grill? Can a order a new key lock to remove the rest of the locks from the tires? What could the rattle be?
I am still driving the car but local, no highway.

Hi,
today as i was driving my brother hit the rds search button on the navigation screen. then the screen froze and all functions went dead. I pulled over a turned off the car, then on again and the screen does not turn on.
no functions work on the unit including the open and tilt.
i have no clue what to do and my aftermarket warranty most likely will not cover any work on the nav unit.
HELP!!!!
also it is a 2002

if you search the es forums there is a discussion about a kit to hookup the ipod to an auxilary port. There are a fe companies that sell this type of product, however they are pricey.

The tail of the car in the last picture has a distinct resemblance to the new Maybach.
does anyone know someone who owns a maybach? how much are those things? Like over $300k?? I don't even make that in a year! And, they're mercedes, so they can't be very reliable!! I'm ok with the s600; that wasn't that much..
I remember seeing these pictures in motor trend. They lok like motor trend sketches.
I have 2 neighbors with maybach 57's. The cars are beautiful. Truely works of art. You can probably find them for under 300K on ebay.

ahhhhh, let me check my signature. ok, got it!
steviej
Have to agree with steviej, 2002 !!!

No other comments good or bad on the pic from anyone?
I guess I am keeping my ES until 2012, unless that picture is of a new honda accord, and the new ES looks great!

My key is stuck in the ignition and it won't come out !!!!!!!!!!!!
When I parked the car this morning and turned off the ignition the key wouldn't turn all of the way to the left and come out.
Tried to restart the car to see if something would reset, but the car wouldn't start.
Somehow I guess I've messed up the ignition security system?!?!?!?!
Anybody have any ideas how to get out of this mess.
The car is an '01 ES300.
:cries:
try moving the wheel left and right, and then take key out.
also make sure the car is in park, if in neutral then the key will not come out

I picked up this link on a toyota Solara forum.

The release is very recent and gives us lexus owners a little hope!
Has anyone had the chance to investigate this further?

I have a 2003ES. I have noticed that car vibrates pretty bad when I brake at speeds 45-70MPH. Have other users seen something similar to this? Anything wrong with the brakes? I am not sure if I have always had this. But lately it seems to be more.
Thanks
Ray
How many miles on this set of brakes?
The last time you had your brakes done did you just change the pads or pads and rotors?
If it was just pads then did they cut the rotors? If not then thre is uneven wear between the pads and rotors which is causing the vibrating you are getting.
I would probably get the brakes checked out.

Its a passive alarm.
Most cars with factory alarms have the feature you are describing. So make sure you don't leave your keys in the car!

Hey,
I have a strange issue. When I am stopped and pressing the brake pedal I feel a vibration under my foot. it is not constant. It lasts for 3 seconds and then goes away for about 5 seconds, and happens again.
Any thoughts or am i just crazy.
It could be the ABS activating. This should not happen unless the streets are wet or there is a chance of an imminent wheel lockup.
By any chance, is your Lexus dealer, "Bay Ridge Lexus".....I noticed that you're in Brooklyn? They have an excellent service dept that could check this out for you.
the vibration occurs while i am standing still.

With all of us loving our ES's, I am curious as to what other we have.
I have of course my 2002 ES300 and my wife drives a 2004 Solara I got for her. We trade off once in a while and love them both.

94es - How Many Miles Are Generally Possible?
in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330

Is there a high mileage club from toyota/lexus for the cars that have gone over say 300k or 500k? This would be a good way to tell if these cars will last. I know from mexperience that mercedes has special clubs from the company that are specifically for cars over 250k, 500k and i think even higher.
