  1. Just had a 75K service (glorified oil change, plus cabin filter) done by a very good indy shop. Very good relationship. Today discovered that power tailgate does not work, either by remote, interior button or tailgate button to lower. The motor which completes closure after you lower it still works. What might be going on? Is there one fuse for that motor? Anything else on that circuit? Where to be found? Other possibilities?

    Thanks.

Have you checked the on/off button inside the glove box compartment, on the left side.

That button is used to disable the power read hatch if necessary.

    Hope that it helps,

  2. My friend's 2005 RX330 2WD sometimes suddenly has all 5 following indicators (VSC, Trac Off, Brake, ABS, tire pressure indicators) lit up at the same time, and stay on until she shuts down and restart the engine. Tires pressures are OK. I am thinking about faulty ABS sensor but not sure. Any help is appreciated.

  3. Hi all,

I am interested to install running board or sidebar for my 05 RX330. I search this forum and found some postings. Per suggestions in those posts, I contacted my dealer but they said they no longer have any such things for RX330 anymore. Have any of you bought any running board and sidebar for RX330 recently? Where can I get them? What are good's and bad's between having running boards and sidebars?

    Thanks a lot!!

www.lexus-parts.com and go to Accessory Exterior. You can find running board, steel bars there. Good luck

  4. I had my dash rattle fixed (almost succesfully) at 10,000 miles. But rattle comes back recently (20,000 miles), especially on the cold days. Do you know how long is the warrant period for that? I hope it is 24,000 miles.

    :cries:

  5. Do you mean the door ajar alarm? This only occurs when the keys are in the ignition. It's that beeping noise.

is this the same noise you are talking about? Or do you mean the "non- beeping" noise you hear when you try to lock the car when the doors are open?

It's not a beep, it's definitely a chime, and it occurs when keys are not in the ignition. For example, when I open the driver door to get into the car it chimes. I'm beginning to think this is normal and I just have never noticed it before.

It chimes if you have your sunroof open. Is it your case?

  6. After 15,000 miles tune up (or coincident), my RX330 has a mysterious wind noise from somewhere on the back when I exceed 60mph. I check the window (pinch it down), check the sunroof, slide the cross bar toward the rear, check the seal on the hatch back. Everything looks OK to me, and does not fix the problem. The sound is anoying for a $40K car, but I hesitate to bring it back to the dealer because first, how can I prove to them that the interior noise level is more than before, and second, how much chance that they can find the real cause of the problem.

Yesterday, I did another visual checking on the rear hatch, and here is what I found. Around the hatch, there are several holes, plugged by black rubber seals. One of the rubber seal at the top side of the hatch is missing, exposing the hole. I temporarily tape the hole, and this morning drive, the noise seems to be gone. :D

  7. If the car recalibrates every time you start the car, as you say, then Lexus places the burden on you to make sure the tires are alright at the beginning of every trip. The monitoring system only detects differences in tire pressure that occured during the drive (bad English, but you get the point).

The tire pressure monitoring system is not meant to replace routine tire maintenance, it is a safety feature designed to alert you of an impending hazard. A fast leak would be a driving harzard, a slow leak would not.

No, the system recalibrates only when you told it to (by pressing the button under the steering column). ;)

  8. I'm pretty disappointed in the tire pressure monitoring system. It worked once to alert us that we got a nail in a tire once. I realize it will not tell you when you are just 2-3 psi low. However, we recently got a slow leak, and the tire worked it's way down to 19 psi (from 30 psi normal). If the system can't detect this, what's the point?

I understand how it works: differential in speed between the tires. It is recalibrated every time you start the car; which means slow leaks are not detectable unless there is a threshold that says something is just wrong once the ration of rotation between tires exceeds a certain level.

The Toyota tire presuure monitoring system recalibrates when you press the button under the steering column. And one should recalibrate this system only after tire rotation, tire change for instance.

Once on my 2000 Sienna, after tire rotation, the garage did not reset my system, and the indicator sure goes on. Another time, it goes on, and sure I do have a flat tire.

Another time, my RX330 loaner tire pressure lights up, and yes I found a low pressure tire. I did not check to see how much PSI I had left.

For sure, such system can not tell you if you have few PSI different. But I feel that it works fine for me.

  9. Yesterday i dropped off my rx300 to my dealer so they could fix my broken moonroof.

The only problem they said, was that it was something that would take a long time to fix, so i would need to leave it there overnight. I asked for a loaner car, and they said no problem.

About a half hour of waiting around the man came in and gave me the keys to what i thought would be another lexus loaner. :o  It turned out to be a toyota camry SE...Is this what they give for loaners now?!?! Now i have to take this front wheel drive tin can in a foot of snow i'm supposed to get tomorrow  :censored:  I think Lexus customer satisfaction is going down the tubes...

This camry doesn't even have leather or anything! I don't even think it's an 05; it has 28k miles on it (still better than the 61k miles i have on the rx, but still). I am really mad at my dealer. Oh and did i forget to mention that i have to pay for this loaner!! :censored:

    What loaners do you get?

The 2 Lexus dealers close to me: Sewell Lexus in Dallas and Park Place Lexus in Plano, TX have plenty of RX330 and ES330 to loan out.

  10. hmm, for the past week or so, ive been getting really low gas milage. I know that i have an SUV and an AWD for that matter, but i still get at least 15 street. recently, i checked it and i get 12.3, which i think is ridiculous. anyone else?:chairshot:

I have RX330 2004 AWD. I only use premium gas, and get about 17~18 in city. When my wife drives it, she gets about 19 mpg. :)

  11. Hi,

I just purchased an font-end mask for my rx330 from a Lexus dealer and have a question regarding fitting.

What I need to know is how to fit the top edge of the mask. Should the vinyl be flush with the hood or should the felt flap be flush, raising the vinly away from the hood.

    Thanks in advance,

    Andrew

The vinyl should be flush with the hood. The flap, under wind, will push the vinyl to the hood, avoiding the vinyl to tap on the hood. I purchase my mask from Colgancustom.com, since they have the full mask (2 pieces to cover hood and bumper), not like the half mask from Lexus.

    Hope that it helps.

  12. Does anyone know if ASL can be adjusted or is it simply either on or off?  I find that when I get onto the freeway the ASL compensation isn't large enough and I still have to manually increase volume and then decrease it again after I get off the freeway.  In my BMW I don't have that problem because it allows you to change the compensation level (I can have the volume go up a lot or change it so that the volume only goes up a little.)

On my RX330, it is just simple on or off. I do not know if it response to the interior noise level, or just to speed of the car.

  13. Is there a consensus as to whether the transmission hesitation issue exists in the 2005 RX330?  I'm looking at buying one, and the salesperson is assuring me that the problem no longer exists.  I frankly am not convinced.  Can anyone tells me what the status is?

    Thanks in advance.

Check out the other thread "Hesitation Fix" in this RX330 forum. It sounds like there is a fix. I definitely will ask my Lexus dealer at 15000 check up.

  14. For me, I always find something I do not like about my car from a cheap Civic, Avalon, Sienna, and now RX330. My real question is "Is a perfect car exist?"

If there is not a perfect car, RX330 is the best one I have. It is not only due to the car's quality, finish, look; it is also due to the service that Lexus dealer provide (including free loaner car)

PS. If you do not like yours, drive a rental car (non Lexus) for a weekend, and you may change your mind! :whistles:

  15. I own an AWD 2004 RX330 in "TEXAS"!!! You may laugh, but AWD helps me a lot in wet condition. Several times, when the road is wet, and start from stop, other cars spin the wheel without moving but not mine.

Saleman told me that AWD is 50/50 all the time. But some forums state that it is FWD unless the wheel starts to slip. My question is if that is true, how fast the system will react and transfer torque to the rear wheels.

    Thanks,

  16. I have K&N air filter installed in my previous Sienna 2000. I can feel the van pick up faster at normal accelerate throttle, but about the same at full throttle. Definitely, gas mileage is improved. In general, I am happy with it.

Now, I am ordering the TRD air filter for my new RX330. It will arrive tomorrow. Some discussions say that K&N filter may harm the engine either by letting dust inside, or oil the sensor. These make me nervous to install the TRD air filter. I hope that TRD is from Toyota, and they should think twice before design those high performance filters. Do you have any suggestion?

    Any comment/suggestion is appreciated <_<

Just want to add new info. I have a chance to talk with a Lexus Technician. I mention to him my concern about oil in TRD filter can oil the air mass sensor. He told me that to avoid any lawsuit, Lexus agrees to replace air mass filter in that case without question. He said that there should not be any issue of using TRD or K&N air filter.

  17. As many of you know I am a total disbeliever on this matter, but I was able to find a "white paper" on the internet which I suspect was concerning the "auto-learn" feature of the Porsche tiptronic.

What it said was that with 60 seconds of starting the car, putting it in gear and into motion, it will "map" your personal driving style into one of the modes, sport, moderate, or passive. Once it has accummulated 3 minutes of history it will now be able to "map" your driving style, adaptively, into as many as 10 modes, depending on roadspeed, etc.

Thereafter it only keeps a running record, history, of just the past three minutes of your driving style, and might even remap you into one of the other modes if "history" warrants.

I have no real idea which marque this might apply to but it was origined, seemingly, by one of the european manufacturers.

Someone may says it is inteligent. I have a question about it. In cold weather, I need to warm the engine up, It may not be my real driving style in the first couple of minutes. The following is my real story. I always follow break-in procedure for my new cars. In thefirst 1000 miles, I have no choice but baby my engine. At 10000 miles tune up, I complain that my RX shifting is not as smooth as the loaner. They reset my transmission memory. After that, I drive with my real me. I feel that my transmission is now much smoother and more responsive than before. :)

  18. I also love the amenities and luxury of the car.  I bought the car two days ago and I found that I still have a lot of things to learn to really make use of the car.

While on the topic of the seat, one thing I kinda surprised is that I found that the middle seat at the back row is quite uncomfortable.  The back of the seat is quite hard.  But looking at the design that it can be flipped down for cup holders and arm rest, I guess this might just be the fact that needs to sacrify the comfort of the middle seat.  So to me this car is more like a 4 seaters instead of 5. :P  What do others think about the middle seat?

Yes, but RX with rear armrest flipped down is a winning, luxury image to me when I compare with MDX.

  19. I surprise that the factory alarm system of RX330 does not have switch to detect if the hood opened. Any one knows why? Most of the alarm systems I know does have the switch to trigger the alarm when the hood is forced open.

    Thanks,

  20. Park Place Lexus fixes my 04 Rx330 front windows wind noise. The technician told me that Lexus provides the improved inside, bottom window seal. I check on the loaner, which also has that noise, and figure out that when the window is pushed up too hard, its bottom is pushed out, and leave a gap between window and the window seal.

Probably, the new seal is longer to not leaving a gap. If your Lexus dealer does not know about this fix, they did not work hard enough!

They also fix my dash rattle.

    UPDATE:

Here are the parts info from my invoice. I do not fully understand all the items, but your dealer should know them.
