  1. Aqil,

You don't give us the mileage on the car, but I'd bet its way past the maintenance schedule for a transmission flush, as recommended in the owner's manual. Start there. A complete tranny flush and filter change may be all that's required.

The next step, if that doesn't solve the issue, is to get to a dealeship and have the tranny computer reflashed with its software program. It may have become corrupted.

If you still don't get the results you need, get to a good mechanic who works on Toyota Camry's, as your ES is just a fancy Camry. He'll do the diagnosis and repairs cheaper than the Lexus dealer. The problem may simply be a corroded wiring connection to the tranny, or an internal solenoid may need replacing which requires the tranny pan to come off.

The answer is, try my first two suggestions, and if that doesn't fix the problem, you'll need to see a competent mechanic, and not necessarily a transmission shop. But that too may have to be your final stop. Good Luck!

I think you failed to read my above post!!

This hesitation problem in this model car has NEVER been rectified by the Lexus Corp, even with constant reflashing of the tranny's computer! These updates were always a complete failure, so your advice is like beating a dead horse.

Here are some members posts back in May, 2003 Read them and weep:

  2. I purchased a brand new 2003 ES300, and from the day I picked it up from my Lexus dealer I knew that there was a hesitation problem!

After countless times the dealer tried to reprogram the computer, but in every instance these updates didn't work to eliminate the problem.

I finally traded in this car that had under 20,000 miles for a 2007 ES350 and the transmission in this car did not have any problems.

So, I'm sorry to tell you that I can't give you a positive answer.

If you go back to 2004 forum responses that I posted in, you'll see how frustrated that I, as well as other members could never had positive results.

Here's a link to one of these pages: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/10805-would-you-buy-your-es330-again/page-2?hl=%2B2003+%2Bes300+%2Btransmission#entry67097

    Good luck. :whistles:

  3. Lexus USA has announced a planned voluntary safety recall of approximately 10,500 model year 2013 GS 350 sedans due to an potential issue in the brake pedal assembly:

The brake pedal assembly in the subject vehicles contains a brake pedal load sensing switch which allows the brake system to detect brake pedal force application by the driver. Due to a manufacturing error, there is a possibility that the switch could improperly cause the brake system to activate without driver input while driving and without activating the rear brake lights. This could result in unexpected moderate deceleration.

Affected owners will be notified by mail, and the brake pedal support assembly will be replaced free of charge.

  5. Hi Steve-

Your GS is one beautiful car! I was contemplating trading in my old '07 ES350 for the new GS350, but in reality I couldn't justify the trade, since my car has less than 17K miles on the odometer. I hardly use it since as a retired geezer, I fly between Scottsdale, AZ, Miami Beach, FL, and Minnetonka MN. There I have the use of a new Range Rover, a Bentley Continental Convertible, or a Range Rover Evoque. When I'm at home in NYC I mainly use my wife's "powerful" Toyota Corolla to zoom around in........and it's easy to park. LOL :)

If anybody deserves a great car, it's you.

    Best of luck.

    Alan

  6. I don't know whether you remember, when I was parked in a mall parking parking lot, and when I came back from shopping I saw that somebody hit my front. It required replacement of the front bumper, hood, lights, left front fender, plus a few more things. The repair was done by my Lexus dealer, and the results were absolutely perfect in every respect. The repair cost was $5000.00......paid by my insurance company. Another thing, at the time this happened, my car was only 3 months old!!!

  7. I suppose I could set a destination on the NAV which is very near my current location (like at the end of the street) and then see on the NAV screen when I will arrive and use that as the "current time" for setting the dashboard clock.

I think you should win an award for the funniest post I have read in a long time. heehee

  8. Or you can just look on a cell phone and get the network time...

In other Lexus vehicles the clock sets to the nav, thats why that menu option is there...but not on the ES.

The problem is I need to have the EXACT time to the fraction of a second(atomic time). As they say, "Time is Money"

  9. One big thing about the Hyundai warranty people don't realize is that its not transferrable to a second owner. The second owner winds up with coverage similar to a typical warranty...

Thats how they get away with offering such a warranty.

As for the prestige issue, to me its not really about impressing people...its more how it makes me feel about myself. Driving the Lexus home after a 12 hour day like today...it feels like an accomplishment. When I pull up to a listing appointment in it, people automatically take me a little bit more seriously than if I were in a lesser car. Its really a part of who I am, it makes a statement.

A Hyundai...however nice a car it may be...doesn't make that statement. So, if I'm going to work my !Removed! off to drive a $45,000 automobile...I can't bring myself to make it a Hyundai.

Here's a question for you, 5 years ago you had that Sonata loaner, that would have been before you bought your ES350. Why didn't you buy a Hyundai instead? Granted...the Genesis didn't exist then, but the Azera did...which is similar.

I realized that the Hyundai warranty is not transferable, but I wouldn't be concerned about that. The main thing is it would be in effect when I owned the car.

5 years ago Hyundai was just starting it's upsurge, so at that time I wouldn't have considered buying one. What I was talking about is the current state of affairs of this companies offerings.

  10. My 2 cents goes like this:

In electronics, when companies like Samsung started up years ago they sold mostly low end equipment. Now they are one of the most respected companies in the world!!

This also holds true for the Hyundai Corporation. Their first automotive offerings were really pretty sad, but now, their achievements in this department is so great that

in simple terms are "shocking". As an example, read any of the numerous auto magazines that have tested their vehicles, from sedans, crossover SUV's, or full size SUV's, and most

all of them have glowing reviews across the board.

As far as I'm concerned, I would definitely consider buying a Hyundai, mainly because of what I have seen and driven.

About 5 years ago I flew out to Phoenix, AZ, and I had reserved a Toyota Camry from Hertz, but when I went to pick up this car the representative told me there were none available.

He then told me that he had a new Hyundai Sonata available. Needless to say I was slightly disappointed, but I decided to give it a try. To make a long story short......I enjoyed

driving this rental more then any rental car I have had in the past. The car was extremely comfortable, well built, no rattles, economical, and handled superbly. And I'm talking about

driving this car hundreds of miles, going up to Sedona and the Grand Canyon, and down to Mexico. It was a totally great experience!

By no means am I trying to berate Lexus automobles, since I've owned 4 of them since 1991, but the question arises......how come a fairly new car company like Hyundai can give you a warranty

that blows away what Lexus offers, and through the years I've had Lexus transmission problems that Lexus never addressed to my satisfaction. This caused me to trade in a 2003 ES300, with

about 10K miles on the odometer for my present car. To this day I'm pretty *BLEEP*ed about this previous experience!!

At this point in my life, the most important thing in an automobile is my satisfaction, and not trying to impress people. :)

  11. I would strongly encourage you to take your car in now for the tranny problem and not wait until June. If the problem shows up when it is below freezing, how will the tech be able to duplicate the problem in June.

    Paul

    Update:

Actually, this problem hasn't reoccurred ever since that one time. So, I'll just chalk it up to an isolated incident and hope for the best. :)

  12. I bought this car May, 2006, so the warranty is finished, but isn't the transmission warrantied for 100,000 miles?

    Doubt it

2011 is 4 year/50k miles bumper to bumper, and 6 year/70k miles engine and drive train

That's exactly the same warranty as the 2007 ES350.

so you are good til may 2012 on the tranny warranty, nice

Yay!!! Since I put so little mileage on this car, I'll tell the service guy about this problem when I bring the car in for my next service appointment sometime in June, 2011.

  13. I found this on Lexus.com:

The Powertrain Warranty is for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Except for the situations listed on the Basic Warranty page, this warranty covers repairs needed to fix defects in materials or workmanship of any component listed below:

•Engine: Cylinder block and head and all internal parts, timing belt and cover, flywheel, oil pan, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets

•Transmission and Transaxle: Case and all internal parts, torque converter, clutch cover, mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets

•Front-Wheel-Drive System: Driveshaft, axle, hub, bearings, seals and gaskets

See your Lexus dealer for complete details on the Lexus Powertrain Warranty.

I could have sworn it was for 100,000 miles, not 70,000 miles. B)

  14. I noticed that when I start my car in below freezing temperatures and then shift into drive or reverse the first time, the transmission seems to slip(RPM increases with very little pulling power). This only happens once and then every shift afterwards is absolutely fine. I might add that my '07 ES350 has about 15,000 miles. Any ideas? :(
