  1. What about just getting 9005 LEDs? Even at half bright, they would still be pure white... Also, with HID lighting, are brights even necessary?! I can't think of a single time I've needed to use my brights. Fog and DL cover about 95% of all driving situations.
  2. Yep, this happened to my slightly used 2011 GS350. The ML amp shorted out due to partial flooding of that area of the trunk. Of course, this information was omitted to me from the ebay store I bought the car from. Same conditions you described and some, as these units are heavily integrated into the car. My cruse control also went out because of this. The NAV would recognize my inputs and even draw a line to the destination, but the NAV voice was completely absent. My regular radio would come through just fine along with Bluetooth. This was a very strange problem that even stumped the Lexus dealership until he discovered some rust around the amp's brackets. They even said that water intrusion is a common problem on their ML equipped cars and covered replacement of the amp under warranty. I hope this helps... Perhaps if you know someone else with a similar setup in their GS, you could swap amps to see if this fixes things.
  3. A lot of you seem to have posted about adding capabilities to various Lexus GS Navigation system. I've recently purchased a 2008 AWD with factory NAV upgrade* (non ML). Can I somehow get this unit to play DVDs or connect my HDMI equipped, Android powered Motorola Photon to the screen to enhance its capabilities as an entertainment hub? * I got this car as a salvage repair from ebayer (drjemini) and he had his repair shop replace the basic stereo system with a gen 5 Nav unit (which he convinced me was less of a chore than replacing with a ML unit due to completely different wiring harnesses). I have not received the car yet, but want a game plan when it arrives next week. I've also asked dcfish for input, but all are welcome to contribute links and advice. -TiM
  4. Trying to contact you about your rims for sale. I'm a new member and the board will not let me. luv4dsc@yahoo.com

  5. Flawless Lexus LS460 Stock Aluminum rims & tires with a 18x7.5 5x120mm Pattern. This size is not exclusive to Lexus like I originally thought. Turns out, when converting to inches, 120mm = 4.72 inch which is so close to the more common 5x120.7 (5x4.75 inch) pattern. *will not come with Lexus centercaps, but standard size hole and an easy ebay item to find on the cheap* VERIFIED 5x120mm VEHICLES: Cadillac CTS (2008 and up) BMW Z3 and Z4 (1996 and up) Acura RL (2005 and up) Acura MDX (2007 and up) Honda Ridgeline (2006 and up) Honda Oddssey (2005 and up) Some people use this bolt pattern on later generation Camaros , Firebirds, S10's, Blazers, etc.... since the bolt pattern is very close(120mm/4.72" versus 120.7 mm/4.75"). That would be up to you to decide as these require sleeved lug nuts. These are high dollar wheels that you just don't see very many on vehicles because of the price and number of Lexus LS460s on the road these days. These will come with the OEM Bridgestone Turanza EL42 235/50R18 , 235/50/18 , 235 50 18 Tires. The TPMS sensors were removed but the back bead was not broke loose, meaning all you need to do is re-stem them and pop the front seal back on. NO BALANCING REQUIRED! Or, throw your existing TPMS sensors in before mounting. The longer these stay in my posession, the lower the price goes. Keep checking this ad or make me an offer I shouldn't refuse. NEW YEAR PRICE DROP!!! $750 OBO ... FREE SHIP TO LOWER 48 STATES, CANADA ADD $75 December 20 Price: $800.00 OBO ... FREE SHIP TO LOWER 48 STATES, CANADA ADD $75 I'd prefer Paypal, but would consider other options.
  6. I have a 2005 ES330 w Mark Levinson & Navi, and a 2007 Camry XLE w/JBL & Navi setup. The JBL system completely blows away the Levinson system. And the Levinson has a sub in the rear deck, that as far as I can tell is completely underpowered. I have to turn the system 3/4 to full volume just to get what is 1/2 output from JBL. I really think if you dissect the systems, you'll see that the Mark Levinson speakers don't look much better than stock Corolla speakers. I don't have a center channel speaker in any of my cars, but it sounds like all the voice is going there. Could be a problem with the dolby processing going on in your head unit. Perhaps there is a way to turn that feature off?
  7. The last time I was researching going up in rim/tire size I stumbled across this site, which is a luxury rim store, but has a free online comparer tool. You just plug in your stock rim/tire specs on the left, then select what you are going to replace them with on the right. The tool provides accurate speedo outputs based on tire size and rpm. It also gives dimensions of tread and offset. Good stuff. www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp
