  1. Well, here goes my ordeal.

    1.  Mechanic said he doesn't like the sound of the compressor....only have original compressor available (no rebuilt) so replaced  $2000+2 hour labor=$2200

    2.  Cool but not cold...Mechanic said probably should replace the condenser and dryer may be clogged....$300+ 2hour labor=$500

    3.  After 1 week....warm air again....found a huge puddle on driveway behind the rear passenger wheel...Mechanic was surprised there was a separate evaporator at back...said needs to cap of the rear  $300.

Working now but only in the front.    :(      Kids not happy for no instant cold in rear.

  2. It blows warm outside air on driver side and cold ice air on the passenger side...so here is the cycle...

    1.  fill with refrigerant....ice cold air on both sides for about 2 weeks....after warm outside air on the driver side and cold air passenger side for about 1 week...after warm outside air on both sides....rinse and repeat with  more refrigerant...

I have also replaced the AC relay in the fuse box to no luck.

  3. I have been trying to fix my air conditioner for a month now as it only blows warm air or cold air only on the passenger side on a good day.

    1.  Put new refrigerant.....worked for 2 weeks

    2. put dye in to check for leaks....no leak visible using UV light

    3.  changed both valve cores + more refrigerant....worked great for 2 weeks.

Anyone have any idea where I can look at next?  Where is the most probably leak area?

  4. In recent months my '08 GX 470 engine sounds very loud on startup - like all the fans are on. This only happens if it has been sitting overnight or longer than 5 hours. Outside temps aren't a factor since it sits in a heated garage. I took it to the dealership, they checked it out when the engine was cold and noted the "excessive engine noise" was a normal condition. No way. I've been driving it for well over a year and this is new. Someone has suggested it is the fan clutch acting up. I want to get this resolved. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mine does the same thing. It is just louder when in the garage. I was told it was normal by my dealer.

  5. Had mine repaired under warranty. They just sanded and repainted the rims and they look ok but you can tell it was repainted and they forgot some pitting areas in the middle hard to see areas. I am thinking of taking it back but maybe I am being too picky. If I had to do it again, I would push for new wheels....unfortunately, my warranty is up in 1000miles and when it goes back to more pitting I will be sheit Out of luck.

  6. I have a 04 ES and had my rims replaced before my warranty ran out, and these rims are having some problems, in the center of the rim. Car has 72000 miles, keep it clean. Found 4 shops in the Detroit area that repair aluminum rims for about half the price of new rims. My spare is the same as the other rims. Like new.

    Tim

I am having mine done now and they seem to not replace them but refinished them. I hope that it is okay.

  7. You won't need a copy of anything. Took mine to the dealer Saturday for the occasional clunk that just developed after 5 1/2 clunk-free years. No quibbles, and they were aware of the TSB. My copy of the warranty receipt says the propellor shaft assembly was replaced under TSB L-SB-0116-08.

Took mine to a local dealer (Toronto, Ontario) and he had no idea what it was and asked me to bring in the TSIB.

Well brought it to another lexus dealer and what a difference. They recognized it right away and said it would be done in 2 days. Got a nice RX350 for a loaner too.

  9. I just posted about this on another website. I am getting my 06 GX 470 rims replaced free of charge by Dealer. It was not easy but I would not take "NO" for an answer. My truck just turned 3 and I have 25,000 miles on it. They will be put on this week.

    Hi,

I have this problem as well on my 07. Why was it not easy? I am hardly the confrontational type and would like to know how you approached this problem to them.

  10. I have 2006 GX470 with 75k miles. The right rear shock is leaking. I realize that on vehicles with non adjustable shocks it ia always advisable to replace both shocks. Is it permissable/safe to replace just this single shock (at $600 plus) or must I replace both shocks? Anyone had this experience?

    RQ

i would just replace the one. With my experience, they will both go but at different times sometimes 3 years apart but sometimes within the same year. I bet it is the right one, that one usually goes first. If you were taking a long road trip, I would do both.

  11. Anyone know how to fix a loose plastic outside panel trim(mud guard?)on the second passenger door. When I look under the gap behind the panel, I see that 1 blue clip has come out and I can't seem to push it back in.

Lexus dealer here wants $1500 and I just about had a heart attack. :cries:

Below is a link to what the clip looks like.

    My link

I went to a toyota dealer and paid 85cents to get one of those blue clips...pulled the old one out with needle nose pliers and put the new one into and pushed it into the door...VIOLA! All fixed and good as new.... Saved myself $1499.:cheers:

  12. To answer your question about whether or not it can be replaced, Yes. Go to Home Depot and get some appropriately sized weather striping and stick it in there. They have numerous "grades" of striping so I suggest you get the most expensive in the appropriate size. It will usually be some sort of rubber, rather than vinyl.

Good Luck, and let us know how it goes.

That is good advice. I guess I need to strip the old glue off and apply a new layer...only if I knew what kind to use???
