andrecat112 Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 doing some maintenance and replacing the fuel filter? is there an easier way to releave the fuel pressure then by digging out the back seat to the fuel pump?
lbinh Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 Really no need. Remove all fuel pump fuses(engine bay and dashboard?). Start engine and let it die out. Start again to get rid of fuel pressure. Should not start after couple times. Very little fuel came out when I did it. Just need couple of rags to catch residual pressure. Depending on what year, mine is 93, you have to take out air cleaner box to access the filter in engine bay.
andrecat112 Posted May 14, 2004 Author Posted May 14, 2004 i dont see fuses specifically for the fuel pump, i do see two fuses that correspond with the fuel injection would those work?
SKperformance Posted May 14, 2004 Posted May 14, 2004 no the fuel injector one will cause a backup not a relief of pressure. changing the fuel filter is almost never needed unless it has a problem you can't trace otehrwise. It is larger than most cars and hardly gets changed but by dealers who what to add to the bill.
SKperformance Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 you can chage it yourself it is easy enoguh just hardly ever nessacary
