Car isn’t running right

I bought my 2001 Lexus gs300 a few months back before I had my license. The car sat for a little bit before I bought it and then it sat for another little, getting driven once a week or so. I was driving the car for less than a week after getting my license and everything started going wrong. The car won’t rev past 4 grand, it will rarely shift properly and the car is a lot more high pitched sounding than it did before. Anyone know what the issue/s could be? I can give more detail if needed but I didn’t want to make this too long. Thank you.

Your car has probably gone into limp mode. 

With the car idling check the transmission fluid level. It could be low on that. It could be a clogged filter in the transmission.
