strange noise from engine compartment

When I come to a stop, I hear a weird noise from under the hood that almost sounds like a diesel engine.  It isn't very loud and goes away within a couple of seconds.  Could it be a timing chain or something like that?  I only have 9,000 miles on the car and this just started within the last couple hundred miles. Any ideas.

I had this experience last year. Luckily it didn’t happen again since then.
