armcomdes Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 I need to replace the flex pipe section of my exhaust system which is part of the Exhaust Header/Manifold/Cat Converter Assembly. Lexus charges $1700, but MagnaFlow has the part for $512, and it seem to be up to spec with the OEM. Has anyone ever replace one before? Is it a bear of a job? And last but not least, do you need a lift?
gbhrps Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 armcomdes, If the rest of the header pipe is solid and still useable, why not just have a new flex section welded in to the rest of the header pipe? It should be MUCH cheaper than replacing the entire header pipe. I suspect that any good exhaust shop (Muffler Man, etc.) can weld in a universal flex sction and save you some real dollars. It would certainly be the way I'd go, if the rest of the header pipe is good and solid. Good Luck.
armcomdes Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 That's a great suggestion. Now I just have to find a reputable shop in Northern NJ. The rear muffler shields are also rattling, so I'd have them tack them in place as well.
timfox123 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 You also can call around some of the southern salvage yards for one that is not so bad. was it rust or too much flexing ?
