Engine oil filter?

Recommended Posts

So I just did a DIY engine oil & oil filter change on my 2004 ES330. Is it OK to hand tighten the engine oil filter or does it need more force then just hand tightening? Thanks

dommm,

The usual rule of thumb for twist on oil filters is to put fresh oil on the rubber seal of the filter, and then turn the filter on until the seal contacts the engine block (you'll feel the filter turning stall a bit) , and then give the filter an additional 3/4's of a full turn, but no more.
