sparkyj99
Hello,Greetings guys,I just acquired a 1995 Lexus sc300 with approx 123MThe car was idling really high when starting up. Really impossible in the AM. I see this is a common problem. Then suddenly one night it started missing from the first turn over. (it was raining BTW)Really hard to keep idling at stand still,Feels like a constant misfire. Like a plug wire fell off.I have managed to get the throttlebody off so as to get to the idle speed control valve(22270-46080 ). I cleaned the Throttle body and idle Speed Control valve. Didn't fix it.BTW: the cabin smells like burnt electrical radio smell. No check engine codes Could this erratic misfire point to the caps in the ECU? TrevC
Any misfire in the ignition system can cause tremendous damage to the Catalytic Converters (which may the smell of burning) and also it can sometimes track back to the ECU which really would cause further problems. I would concentrate on the misfire in the ignition system first and judging by what you have described, it sounds like water ingress to the ignition coils. sparkyj99
Thanks Trevor, the SC300 has one ignition coil? It is such a commitment just to pop the plug wires off this car..
