Should the window open slightly when you pull on the door handle?

Hi Paul....welcome to the Forum

On a convertible, yes.  designed to allow the door to open without the door glass catching on the soft top (window pulls up under the top to seal efficiently)

I thought so. Do you know if the owner can reset this function or do you need to have the dealership fix it?

Usually it should relearn...not entirely sure of the reset procedure though.

Could try a combination of pressing the window button while switching the ignition on/off or similar
