My wife drives a 2006 LX470 with 42,000 miles on it. That is not a typo, just 42,000 miles. A couple of weeks ago she called that her car had gone into limp mode and to make a long story short, the secondary air pump in the engine had gone into self destruct mode and needed to be replaced along with its three air valves. The local Toyota did the work (closest Lexus dealer is 120 miles from me) and, the car is one the road again with my wallet $2,000 lighter. Toyota actually has extended the warranty on this item on their cars/trucks but Lexus said NO coverage. Anyone else had this problem with their LX470?

Thanks

Pete

Just got the exact same issue.   They want $2300 to fix it.   Seems like a defect to me.  So much for Lexus being a reliable brand.

Eddie, sorry to hear that you got caught on the same failure that got my wife's LX470 at 42,000 miles. My only hope is that Lexus will someday learn that customer service really does matter, as their owners shop elsewhere for their next vehicle. As for me personally, next purchase, anything but a Lexus. Additional reasons for my decision include the drivers door remote lock/unlock module failing and requiring replacement, the lift assist on the tailgate door failing, and a recall to prevent possible failure of steering control.
