Hi,

I originally began experiencing engine missing. I went to Tires Plus and was advised to replace plugs and coils. I did that but the problem persisted. They now say I have a VVT solenoid problem and they want $800 to fix. Who has experience with this problem and might there be an inexpensive fix? I saw a video of the solenoid being replaced on a GS430 and it appears extremely simple and inexpensive. Shouldn't it be exactly the same for my SC?

The part is around $109 total, and installation I am not sure but typically easy. I found this on Carson Toyota site that also sells Lexus parts. Called a VVti timing solenoid. There is generally also a little screen that needs cleaning also.
