Airbag Off

2014 ES300h - 4600 miles. Just noticed that with my wife in the passenger seat the Airbag Off light is on. Is there an switch for this somewhere? Could not find it in the manual.

automatic when a certain weight is placed on the seat. Take your wife on a couple good runs through McDonald's and it might function.

When I put my somewhat larger frame on the seat the airbags on lights.

Seriously, drive over to dealer and make them check it out. Should not do that in a 4 door. I do know in piickups, there is a key slot that you can manually turn it off.

At 5000 mile check Florida dealer blew it off saying simply more weight was needed.

In again today solely for this issue. They can find nothing wrong after "exhaustive" checking and suggested adjusting the seat differently. They stated other have had ths problem This is a safety issue. Anybody have further advice?

Perhaps it is working properly. The advanced airbag systems probably will not fire unless a certain weight is on the seat. This is done to prevent children and small adults from getting killed by them. Although it is possible, I doubt your wife (or anyone's) could not have enough weight to activate the system.

Seems unreasonable to me based on her weight. I can understand it not firing for children.

Frankly, I'd prefer a switch so that the matter could be left in my hands rather than those of the government.
