Leilani Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I have just purchased a 2015 RX350 and the dealer is recommending a $600 option for an outside vendor to apply a "revolutionary fortified sealant" to the exterior of the car and leather protection to the inside. Rip-off or a good value? Your thoughts please!
GymW Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Most likely a ripoff. Most of the sealants are just a form of synthetic waxes and last about a year or so. However they represent a great moneymaking opportunity for the dealer. My recommendation: get the surface of your car absolutely clean after you purchase it, perhaps polishing it, with some car clay design for clear finishes first. This will get rid of any leftover grime, smooth small scratches and eight imperfections. Then put on a coat except in California, where the pollution laws don't allow it to be purchased(online either), but Nevada does, of Liquid Glass, auto finish. It will be just as good as the sealant.
Leilani Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Thank you, Gym, for your response. My husband didn't think it was worth it either because he used to detail airplanes when he was in college. Funny, he said last week that he needs to give my car a good detailing. Great minds are working in the same direction!!!
