Lexusthunder Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Hello, This is my first Lexus purchase. The body style and clean lines and ride quality is what drew me in. I wanted a 1994 or less. It was a 2 owner vehicle. Very sound mechanically. The only two issues were the power steering pump and o2 sensor needed replacing. The check engine light was on during test drive, upon telling owner he took it to Lexus and had those two items replaced. Took it on interstate got it up over 100 no problems, rattles, shakes whatsoever. On,y one issue is the display for the clock and a/c and heater are not working? Has the sunroof and cd changer as well. Was this a good buy?
billydpowell Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 All things considered, probably yes, but you are looking at a timing belt/water pump issue unless it has been replaced.. are you a DIY kind of guy?? you are in no danger of ruining the engine since it is a non interference. welcome to the club and good luck on your LS... photos would be nice..
z_johnq Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I think this is the one of the best illustrations for replacing water pump and t. belt: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/engine/timingbelt.html Hope this helps.
