LiamN. Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 It's winter time and we have set Climate control to AUTO and 74 degree for both driver and passenger. Heat is not coming out but cold air. The car has less than 50,000 miles. Any idea of what it could be?
James Horning Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 First check coolant level, look at over flow container is it empty?? Inspect for a water pump or radiator coolant leak . The water pump: A good light and a small mirror for inspection, the coolant is pink and has the ability to coagulate. All this has a reason, low coolant you get a air pocket introduced into the system, the air pocket prohibits coolant flow in the heater core.
LiamN. Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 Hi, I did check for the coolant reservoir and it's still up to Full level, I think it works in the morning when temperature is cold, but yesterday afternoon, outside temp was around 54 and I set for 72, I feel cool (not cold) coming out. How do I put it in Manual mode? I always have it at AUTO and 72 degree.
als47 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Hi Liam, Simply push in the AUTO once; it puts it in MANUAL mode; the same effect may be achieved by going into CLIMATE display and choosing some ventilation mode other than the AUTO currently has the system in; it switches off the AUTO mode as well. Anyway, perhaps this would tell us if the AUTO mode is the issue or it's something common to both. Also you might try to turn the temp setting all the way up, I think it's 85, to see if you get some heat.
