bhales Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 i hit a deer yesterday in my 2005 Lx470 and looking at $6000+ in damage. it didnt get anything mechanical except behind the grill. my question is what is directly in front of the radiator? is that an oil cooler for the motor, or for the transmission? i may just fix the fender, grill and put a aftermarket ARB bumper on it. can anyone help me? thanks
1990LS400 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 No insurance? A deer hit should be covered - no out-of-pocket on mine.
bhales Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 yea i have full coverage, just not sure i want to put that kind of claim in on an old truck that i can fix for not much more than my deductable. i figured out that is the Transmission OIl cooler, im just going to bypass it for now to stop the leak till i figure out a plan.
1990LS400 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I would be surprised if a deer hit would affect your rates -- it's not like you swerved to hit it. Your deductible might not apply when hitting an animal - mine didn't when I hit a deer when my current LS was about seven years old. Insurance is mean to be used when appropriate.
