Johndoe1978 Posted September 29, 2012 Share Posted September 29, 2012 I will be updating this with my progress and eventually a complete walk through with wiring diagrams: Vehicle: 2003 Lexus GX470 Equipment: Navigation Rear Seat Entertainment Mark Levinson Sound System Objective: Replace factory Head Unit with Kenwood KIV-BT901 Replace factory amplifier with JL XD7005 Replace factory speakers with Focal IS165 Add 2 2-way crossovers for rear speakers Add 2 3-way crossovers for front speakers Remove CD changer Remove DVD Player Add iPod/iPad/iPhone dock in glove box where cd changer used to be Add iPod/iPad/iPhone dock to rear A/V input Integrate glove box iPod/iPad/iPhone video from deck into Audio screen and Rear display Reasoning: Dead channel on Amp or bad speaker Dead DVD player Overall sound quality improvement Technology update (if I am going to pay through the nose anyway... pj8708 Posted September 29, 2012 Share Posted September 29, 2012 Hey Johndoe, what a project, but the only one I've ever heard of who had enough money and apparently know how. So many people make the mistake with a Lexus of trying to upgrade the sound with a few different speakers or amp. Without having any idea about how Lexus has balanced all the speakers with the crossover network and muti amps balanced to the entire system.
