Got Knock Sensors Replaced, Mechanic Messed Up My Car. Someone Please

Recommended Posts

hey guys. i just bought a new 2000 lexus es300 like 2 weeks ago exact. check engine, trac off light were on and i thought no biggie because it was gives the codes for failed knock sensor, i also had no overdrive so the rpm was always high on the highway. i had codes p0171, p0325, and p0330. so i went a grabed 2 knocksors, and a intake manifold gasket.sounds good right..... well aparently the mechanic fixed it but when i test drove it before i paid him, the car was 10 x worse. symtoms i never experienced before the mechanic changed the knock sensors. the car wont even drive past 3000 rpm even when i floor it, it hesitates. i tried and tried but it would barely move. it like theres barely any acceleration.

did the mechanic mess up my car? or did forget a step when replacing my knock sensors?

the mechanic said hed check it out monday, im extremely *BLEEP*ed off at him because i really think he messed up my car.

what should i do guys think??

He prollly forgot to snap back one of the 30 or so connections or hoses, any of which might cause your problem. There's several on the throttle body, many on the intake emission rail, not to mention the fuel injectors, and spark plug connections. See if you can spot the loose hose or connector, or take it back tothe mech and ask him what happened.

Hey ise300, I had the exact same problem with my 1999 es300. It is most likely your OCV's (Oil control Valves) They get gunked up and don't regulate correctly and it affects your RPM's and Overdrive as well. There is a post on this forum explaining with pictures how to take them out and clean them with de-greaser. Also, take out your MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor) and clean it with some isopropyl alcohol. This regulates the amount of air to gas mixture. If it is dirty the computer will read it incorrectly and give you some problems.
