My 2007 ES350 windshield was hit by a rock and a small ping appeared in the glass. My insurance company covers small areas so they sent a mobile service out to repair it. The glass man said the ping was nothing and he could polish it out but he found a large crack in the black area at the bottom of the driver's side and called it a stress fracture. Of course, the entire windshield had to be replaced.

Anyone else have a problem with this.

Is the "stress facture" in a place where a rock could not have caused it? I've had rocks hit and crack a windshield without chipping it including last year when a rock from a dump truck in a construction zone hit the very edge of the windshield of my 00 LS and caused a crack that spread from less an inch to over a foot long within a couple of days.
