Upper Control Arm Spinning

Recommended Posts

I have a 99 gs300 I replaced wheel bearings and hub, and am trying to tighten up the nut hold the steering knuckle to the upper control arm. I got the nut turning a few turns and it get tight and the stud keeps spinning is this normal or is something damaged. If this is normal for this to spin how do I get the nut onto the stud tight thank you in advance.

You have to drive the tapered pin into the tapered hole in the arm - or pinch it in. Very large channel lock pliers is what I use. Once the pin is seated well, it should provide enough friction to allow the nut to tighten.

If you have a floor jack place it under the lower arm and lift it up to ride height, then lever the upper arm down into the knuckle, which is now supported rigidly with the jack.
