ATrain
I would turn the key on my 96 Lexus es300 20 times in a row and it'd MAYYYBE try to start one time. I'd just hear 1 single click when I tried. Now that I installed a brand new starter, it makes a bunch of clicks and doesn't try to turn over. Here is the audio clip. Any idea? ATrain
Sigh...it was out of gas, had a dead battery, and had a bad starter...unbelievable. Put new starter, gas, and jump box on it runs like a top.

If you replaced the starter based on that noise alone w/o trying another battery then you may have replaced a good part.
