caveman_2008 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I need to get the rear bumper fixed. it has got a 4 x 6 inch scratch from a rear end collision. Does anyone know how much it might cost me? Or should I do the paint job myself? any help in this matter is appreciated. http://tinypic.com/r/migndh/7 I meant bumper NOT bumber ... lol
cduluk Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 That doesn't look too bad, just needs to be sanded, primed, base coated and cleared. Do you have an airbrush and air compressor? Preferable one large enough to spray this? You'd need the right paint and clear, and you'd need to remove the bumper to paint it. Unless you're planning on doing this again, it's probably not worth buying the materials and doing it yourself. It'll cost you $100 just for the paint... To have a shop do the repair, might run you in the $250-$500 range...

Couldn't tell it even happened afterwards.. Your Lexus dealer will likely subcontract the work out anyway, and it will probably run you 2-3 times as much..
maseace Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Looks like you could buff most of that out and use a little touch-up from a bottle, for the lowest cost fix. Worth a try. You could always get it painted later if it doesn't look good.
