Bill Fisher Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Car: 2003 Lexus LS430 We have been locking and unlocking the car with the key fob for ever. Well now the driver does does not want to lock. There are no sounds. I'm figuring it either broke, or a wire came loos. Questions: The electronics of the lock - is that a dealer only part? Have other club members had this problem? How much did it cost to repair? Is this a job a handy car owner (also frugal) could do? Thanks for your suggestions and comments

As you already pointed out, it sounds like an electrical problem. If it were the actuator it would at least try to go into the lock or unlock mode. But you say it doesn't even make a sound which leads me to suspect it may not be getting any power. Do the other doors work? If not check your fuse. If they do, you may have a short, loose wire like you said, or some other malady a dealer would have to trace out. Another member may log on here sometime with more smarts than I and be able to offer you more help. There is another thread on the forum posted today with a similar problem. Paul
