beaver1 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Does the bottom drain plug have to be removed to take off the oil filter bowl? Apparently the Lexus shop techs tighten them excessively in my opinion.

harryn Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 No, you can take the whole thing off to expose the filter right away. Yours should unscrew just like my 2010 using special wrench Assenmacher AST Toyota/Lexus oil filter wrench TOY 640/09228-06501 - 64mm. Note that you have to have something good sized underneath to catch about 1/3 of a quart of splashing / dripping oil; my favorite is an old roasting tray. harryn
beaver1 Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Thanks for the hit Harryn. I now have the tool in my possession so will be all set when the next service is due. Have a great day!
