mase Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 For some reason, my CD changer skips on high tracks, meaning that on every CD, tracks 1-5 are ok but starting 6 or 7 it will start skipping and 8 or 9 isnt even playable. Anyone have this problem before? What do you think the problem is?
TurboGS300 Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Laser out of adjustment, could try cleaning it , but it's probably time for a new changer! :o
SKperformance Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 the laser is off alignment and is moving away or closer as it nears the outer edge of the disc making it harder for it to focus you can try cleaning it but it might help at a minimum
mase Posted February 7, 2004 Author Posted February 7, 2004 do i HAVE to go to the lexus dealer to fix this one? cuz they are like 40 mins away. can any electronics store like best buy do this? or do i really need a new changer, as turbo said? :(
TurboGS300 Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 If it's under warranty, take it to lexus! If not, you can try an cleanig disc. It is far better to clean it by hand, but it will require someone with some electronics skills. Adjusting or aligning the laser assembly will require an oscilloscope, take it to an experienced electronics repair shop, not Best Buy. Lookin the yellow pages under car audio repair and go with your best judgement. :P :D
mase Posted February 7, 2004 Author Posted February 7, 2004 oscilloscope? we got a ton of those in any one of our engineering labs... hmm.. being BME/EE i think i have electronics skills.. but yeah i'll look it up in the pages
