drewzer
Can the oil pan on my 1999 Rx-300 2WD be removed while the engine is in the car? I likely ran out of oil and got the oil light, but engine may be cooked, as it knocks and barely starts. Wondering if by removing oil pan, I can examine if bearing materials were transferred onto the crank shaft journals. My uncle says this is a long shot, but if the oil pan is easy for a mechanic to remove, I may instruct him to do so. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! -Drew
Jeffstpetebeach
Yes the oil pan can be romoved without the engine having to be removed. The bolts I believe are 10MM about 12 or more. I have a PDF file on the engine if you need it, which sounds like you might. Just Pm me and I'll get it to you. Good luck
