Podcasts Not Showing Up On Nav Screen

I have a preinstalled hookup for an ipod. No problems with my music showing up on the screen in folders. However, I created a folder for podcasts and it doesn't show up at all on the nav screen. Is there a format that the podcasts need to be in to show up.
