eallum
Hi, Recently changed the transmission oil two times on my 1992 SC400 with ATF T4 since it had not been changed for a while and the fluid was no longer red-ish, more like brown in color. However after the second change, the transmission is disengaging in either reverse or forward drive gears usually right after a cold start when I assume that the transmission oil is cold. This appears to only occur when the car comes to or slows to a stop. For example after starting the car and reversing on the driveway and slowing down to a stop, it sometimes disengages and it would reengage after waiting a short period of time. The same happens when driving forward. What is the likely cause of this problem? Would a slight over fill cause this (hot fluid range reading on dip stick when oil is cold)? Would debris or dirty filter cause this?
