5disc Cd Player

Hi everyone i hope im doing this right and ill try to make it short 97 es300 my mother gave to me about 6months ago 53000 miles i was playing my cd in the disc changer in the glove box i shut the car off to go do errands i forgot to eject the case so when i started the car the cd wouldnt play so i ejected the case and tried to play the cd and nothing i could hear it spinning but it wont play so i bought a cd cleaner thing but it wont even play that either so then i was in walmart and bought a can of compessed air thinking maybe it got dust on it to spray in between where the case goes and where the cds load heres the problem and dont laugh the lil red thing from can that looks like a straw fell off inside the cd player lol i can see it lying in there so then my bright idea guys was to put a lil piece of gum on end of straw to try to make it stick to it well that worked but when i tried to take out that straw thing the lil round piece of gum is now in there lol SO is there a way of opening that whole cd player my brother said looks like u can take the screws off etc but didnt want to let him do it until i got some ideas from u guys any help would be appreciated also one person told me that maybe the lens got stuck in one position when i shut the car off while it was playing does that make sense ? i really really dont want to take it to dealer cd player was hardly used by my mother so its not beat up please help thank u so much guys :)

First off......... with only one capital letter and no periods at all in your post, it is nigh on torturous to read. I came close to giving up reading the rest of your post several times, and I'm sure that many others did as well.

Secondly, you are on the right track as to how to fix the unit. It will have to be removed from the car, and then the case will have to be opened to extract the gum. The fix to the CD player itself will most likely require the case to be opened as well. In the past I have repaired CD players and the older cassette units that had the same no play symptoms, and found that the drive band (really just a small rubber band between two pulleys) had stretched or broken. Taking the old one to an audio repair shop, I was able to get a replacement of the proper length and shape, and fixed the units.

Someone with patience and the proper DIY skills can do this kind of repair, and they need not be an electronics expert. If after getting the case apart, should a broken drive band, a jam, or stripped gear not be readily found, you may be forced to take it to an audio repair shop, or look for another used unit in a wrecking yard.
