pbvhome Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I am contemplating to buy Lexus Extended warranty Premium plan as my 06 GX470 's orgininal warranty by next week. Given that I just had to replace a strut on front, it pushed me more towards considering to buy the warranty. Question is what are the best sources to buy this lexus warranty from other than local dealers. Lexus web site says for 7yr 75K miles it costs $2400 for this vehicle. First of all I don't understand why it differs from dealer to dealer. Does it matter which dealer I buy it from? Can safely buy from out of state dealers ? In that case how do I make sure that purchase went through valid- call up lexus after purchase to confirm it is effective in my vehicle record ? I have only 44K mileage and hitting 4 yr time limit only. Please advise.

You might want to consult the following thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...t=0#entry371423 I had contacted TobyToyota (or whatever the name) when I bought the new 09RX350, and he assured me the warranty was purchaseable (?) until the last day of the existing original warranty, so I did not pursue further at the time. But the response was prompt, courteous, and indicated a price well below that of Lexus dealers. And, yes, it is the 'same' warranty that would be purchased, registered with, and applicable at, all Lexus dealers like the original warranty. Good luck (plse. let us know).

WeBargain4U.com, 888-759-8823, has located a dealer that is offering the 7yr/75 Platinum $0 ded for $1,920 and the 8yr/75 for $2,181. It is no problem if you buy from an out of state dealer, just make sure you are looking at an actual Lexus Extra Care plan. WeBargain4U has been working with Lexus (and VW, Audi, Toyota, etc.) dealers on pricing for a number of years...

I just spoke Toby and he quoted me following prices for GX470 2006 model: 7YR 75 - 1750 8YR 75 - 1965 7yr 100K - 2280 8YR 100 k - 2685 He said it is actually about buying from Lexus dealer where he is business manager. And once paid by CC he will mail documents to home and is same as current factory warranty (except that key lock assistance not included). Do you know what other differences in this Platinum warranty compared to factory warranty ? Anything else I should consider and rely on this ? I see in this forum many have referred this person, so hoping everything is good.
CUMan Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I believe the price you saw on the Lexus site is a suggested retail price. The individual dealers are obviously free to charge whatever they may wish for the warranties. They pay Toyota-Lexus a wholesale price. You can buy the factory warranty from any Lexus dealer in the country. Toyota dealerships may sell the Lexus warranties, also; but I am not sure of that. In 2007, as I approached the three year limit on the warranty on my 2004 Sequoia, I purchased a Toyota extended warranty from a dealership in New York (I am in Alabama). This dealership promotes the warranty on one of the Toyota forums. Do some searches on this forum and on Clublexus. I have seen posts from Lexus/Toyota dealerships offering reduced prices on Lexus warranties, but I don't recall seeing any recently.
CJAY Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Hi, I just bought a used rx400h from a friend and just missed the 50K 4yr warranty period. am i doomed? can i not get a warranty anymore? what should i do? when i got the car it had a little over 50K :( please advise
brooklynmick Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 When you register the vehicle list the mileage at less than 50,000 miles. Then call the dealer. They will usually sell the warranty based on the last officially recorded mileage not the odometer(questionable but done). If you already registered with the right mileage you are out of luck. good luck
Kimbra Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Lexus site is still very credible, but a friend sent me a Lexus GX470, I feel great, this would be a good choice.
