1996 Lexus Ls400 Automatic Transmission

I have a 1996 Lexus LS400. Last month had to replace my starter, they couldn't even rebuild it. Drove fine for about 3 weeks, then last week I was driving around fine, stopped, left the car on, for about 5 minutes, then as I was driving away I noticed my engine not shift, and noticed on dash that even though I was in Drive, Low was also highlighted on my HUD. I immediately pulled over to safe location and tried turning car off and back on, and when I switch to drive it immediately highlights Low on my dash. Reverse works, and Low works fine. It does not shift out of low. Any ideas? I am in Tuscaloosa, AL so I can't get to a Lexus dealer, but I got my starter replaced last month at Toyota dealer.

Thanks for all the help

Hi,

Welcome to the LOC,

1st thing I would do is have the transmission diagnostic codes read and go from there.

Any autoshop with an OBDII code reader should be able to do this it doesn't have to be Lexus.
