Change Nav From Gen 2/3 To Gen 4?

In trying to determine whether to replace my navigation ecu, I was offered a Gen 4 unit with the new disc saying it would essentially "plug and play" in my 02 LS430. The bracket is the same. The wiring is the same. The unit would be a much better experience.

Can someone confirm or deny this?
