RicHallgren
I have a GS300 that has travelled 136000Klms without mechanical or electrical incident . Over the last few days it has momentarily lost all electrical power. The first two times it was very quick, all the intruments, lights, radio etc lost power but the motor kept going presumably because the power cut was very short. The last occurence seemed to be about two seconds. All power was lost and this time the motor stalled. I rolled to the side of the road. All power had returned and the car started without difficulty. I have checked the battery, "jiggled" the cables, fuses, relays etc. I cannot bring the problem on and each time it happened was in normal cruising driving, gentle acceleration etc. PLEASE, has anyone experienced this problem or have any ideas? Ric Have the battery checked out in detail. I had a similar experience in a Volvo where the power dropped as I stopped the vehicle a few times. Later under gradual acceleration and up a hill all power was lost and the engine quit. This time I could not start the car and had to have it towed. Turns out one of the many plates in the battery had come loose and had touched a neighboring plate shorting out the battery. They tell me the earlier power outages could be attributed to the plates briefly touching but not making permanent contact. The plate support finally gave way and contact between plates was constant rather than occasional. Worth having them check the battery. 136000 miles maybe its time to treat yourself to a new battery. <_<

I will swap it over and see what happens. Thank you for the response Ric

It was just a faulty build and didn't have any issue with length of use. Good luck.

steviej
sounds more like a faulty ground connection rather than a battery. steviej
