papacoge
I have a 2001 Lexus RX300. I’m not sure what it is called, but that black piece of plastic that is right on the rear bumper under the rear (hatch) door that says “Lexus” on it is cracked. It functions as a bumper protector when you are loading up the trunk with heavy objects that might scratch the bumper. Any idea how I can remove it? It seems like it just snaps on and off, but I don’t want to break anything.
weinkaufjr
On a 99 it is held on by double sided tape.
papacoge
Would it cause damage to my bumper if I ripped it off?
SW03ES
You'd have tape residue and possible buff marks from where the protector had contacted the bumper of the years its been on. Why remove it?
papacoge
I want to take it off to repair the crack in it by glueing the crack. The putting it back on.

papacoge
If I take it off, would it still be sticky enough to put it back on?
SW03ES
No you'll need to strip the tape and use new. Automotive foam tape can be bought at any automotive store.
