melodic65
I have a 99 ES300 that can barely make it up a hill. There's a rattling noise coming from under the hood on the front passenger side also when i try to go any faster than 20mph and i can feel the engine pulling when i try to go faster ; so I don't - I just go real slow (20 mph) up any hill just so the car won't go out on me before i can get it to the shop. Anybody know what this might be? I am a single mother and I don't know how to fix this myself but i would like some idea before i go to a shop and they just take my money for unneccessary things. I live in Inglewood (Los Angeles CA) if anyone knows a good mechanic to refer me to. Thank you! Melanie
George_Jetson
Not that we do not want to help, but it is difficult without more detail. The rattling is probably something as simple as a loose cover. Lack of power could be a clogged fuel filter. Or something else minor. As I am sure you are aware, it is difficult to troubleshoot by remote without details. One thing that you could do is open the hood and check hoses. Carefull look at all hoses, especially the ends. As rubber hoses get old, they have a tendency to dryout, strech, and split. Look closely at all rubber hoses. Especially if any work has been done recently, (such as replacing the air filter could have knocked a hose off). Sorry that I could not be of more help,

melodic65
To George - Thank you very much for even trying to help. I'll take the car to my local Pep Boys and see if they can check the fuel filter for me and the hoses. (I'll also look under the hood myself to see if I spot anything). I'll post my findings and results in a few days. Thank you! Melanie
