European Maps (dvd) For American Specs Lexus

I am sure that I am not the only one with this issue.....I have a 2007 IS 350 which has American specs. I am now stationed in Germany with my car and have found out that the American DVD Navigation System in my car is not compatiable with the German/European DVD disc. Has anyone found a solution to this delima other than to purchase a new European Navi for about 2,500 Euro?

Why not just buy a portable nav to use while you are there ... just got a Garmin 260W for my wife at barely $160. There is a European version of most Garmin GPS devices and you can purchase European maps for the American models.

I've seen a number of posts on Lexus forums from people who don't use the Lexus navigation systems in their cars -- they prefer and use portable navigation devices instead.
