How To Disable The 'reset' Of Avge Mpg On Filling Up?

Recommended Posts

The 2009RX350 has a feature that I dislike: It resets to 0.0 the avge mpg computer whenever you fill the gas tank. It also has a 'reset to 0' feature that you can achieve by pressing on the 'info' switch. I like to measure consumption over a longer period, resetting it as I wish (which is how the 'old' RX300 worked). Does anyone know how to disable the 'reset to 0' feature when the gas tank is replenished?

I may be wrong, but I think the trip computer shows both. If you scan through functions, one shows the total average mpg, and another shows average mpg since last fill up.

TKs. for replying - I'll check it out. I thought it only offered 'instantaneous' mpg, avge. mph, range.... and of course avge mpg (since last refill).

No: The trip computer for avge mpg always resets when filling up the tank. A 'wild guess' is that it is because that is what is used to calculate 'range': so, when the volume of gas changes, the ranges changes and they (i.e. Lexus) set it to conform to the most up-to-date consumption pattern. Too bad.....
