2002 Gs300 Subwoofer Replacement

Just purchased this vehicle and the reardeck sub is blown. I took it to two audio shops (not bestbuy) and they both advised that only the original ML sub from lexus would fit and that they couldn't use any other type of 8 inch sub. I asked if the deck could be modified to hold another sub- and they both mentioned that the ML sub was specific to the factory amp and another sub would not get enough power from the factory amp.

Does anyone have any advice if you have used a different sub and what you have done in this situation.

JL audio makes a 10" marine sub suitable for freeair/infinite baffle use. Its power requirements are not that steep at arount 150w. If the shops you went to are any good they should be willing to put one in.
