docmas
My 2002 LS430 has only 73,500 but over six years old so dealer tells me to service timing belt. I was going to wait a little while to avoid expense, but notice that the Platinum Extended Warranty (mine is good through April 2009) covers timing belt. They told me it shows "signs of wear." Do I have a case for them to cover the replacement then? I would think not, as it's maintenance, but wondering if they painted themselves into a corner? Any experiences with this? Thanks, Adam
docmas
Answer is no. If it breaks (and destroys engine) they will fix everything while warranty is valid. But won't service it, even though they're saying it "shows wear." It's okay, talked to another dealer and at Steve at Luxury Motorworks, both say to wait until the full 90,000 miles, even though it's over six years. I'm a little anxious, but from reading the forums, etc., think I can wait.
