lakelexusbill Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Just purchased an 07 ES350 with 25k miles. Certified warranty is 3yrs and up to 100k miles. Question is should I purchase the extended the dealer is offering of 4 yrs up to 125kmiles for $1725 or 5 yrs up to 125k miles for $2050 or pass both. Plan to drive the car about 20k per year. Also, can the extended warranty be purchase later--dealer says decision has to be made now.
mhawkin1 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I would wait until you have 95K miles on your car and reevaluate the situation. You will have more experience with your particular car and a better feeling of whether you actually need the warranty.

lakelexusbill Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 I understand and that makes sense, but the dealer is telling me that I have to buy the extended warranty now and it will not be available later. That is not the way I understand the info I found on the Lexus web site.
SW03ES Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 The dealer is lying if he is telling you that. Call him on it, its a bold faced lie. You can buy the OEM extended warranty all the way up to the expiration of the original factory warranty which expires in 4 years or 50k miles. I bought the warranty on mine way back when and was glad I did, I had a couple big repairs covered, a rear main seal, the steering wheel knuckle issue that is common with my generation ES. But, you already have the 100k warranty because yours is CPO. So, $2,000 for 20,000 more miles? I'd pass, thats a year of driving for you and what could go bad on the car that would cost that? These cars aren't THAT expensive to repair if you don't have those repairs done at the dealer.
