Thomas A. Iglesias Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Hi Everyone, I have owned my sc400, 92,000 miles, since february and I am noticing that at idle in neutral if I hit the throttle the exhaust heat shields make a ticking noise. This is also true after a hot shut down they never seem to stop ticking any common problem here? Thanks, Tom
JohnH Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 My '95 SC300 has done it almost since day one. I was told that it was because the exhaust system was well contructed of heavy duty Stainless Steel. Don't know if that's the fact of the matter, but after 13 years the car still sounds the same, and still crackles when I shut it off.
Lethal_Threat Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I was told it had to do with the primary cats. All of my heat shields are removed, including 90% of the stock exhaust system. The ticking still comes from the area of the cats.
