cliffordA
I know this is a minor repair, but can you believe the dealership wanted over $700 to change both my pre-cat O2 sensors after the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) / Check engine Light went on? Time spent was well worth the $500 saved. Finished doing a write-up on it: http://monkeeworks.com/go_O2 Thanks, Clifford Vincent Arrow monkeeworks.com

The job went just as he discribed and took me only about 2 hours. biggest problem I had was in taking the rock panal off as a couple of the bolts broke off and I was forced to drill them out and re-tap the holes for replacements. I did have a question however about reseting the engine codes to get the light to go off. Do I need to do that or will the light go off on it's own after awhile now that the sensors have been replaced? I have been cautioned that erasing the code will cause me a problem next time I go to the Illinois Emission Check Station. Canoe3
cliffordA
Thanks for the kind remarks, Canoe3. I have posted your most excellent improvisation of disconnecting battery to clear MIL when not in possession of an OBD2 scanner/reader in the Readers' Comments Section http://www.monkeeworks.com/projects/auto/L...QandA/index.php.
