2002 Rx 300 Automatic Transmission Selection Lever Problem

My 2002 RX300 has 86K miles on it. Today after driving for about 80 miles or so I had stopped at a mall briefly. After about 10 minutes when after switching on the ignition I tried to shift the lever from P to R, it wouldn't move. So I checked the manual, and pried open the cover atop the shift lock override button. I manually pressed the button and shifted to N before starting the engine. The car drives just fine, but the VSC and ABS lights stay on. The manual says check with Lexus dealer. Can anyone please suggest what might be wrong all of a sudden?

Sounds as if your brake light switch may have failed.
