Lexus. Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Guys, dont ever get your car washed at those drive thru car washes like Waterways, etc. I worked there for 2 days before I threw the towel (no pun intnd.). Many times car is still dirty when they come out of wash, and than a swat team of high school kids carelessly finish drying it. Every car gets fresh towels, but they have been used millions of times and are of low quality. They often drop them, carrying dirt, wipe in any direction. And when they wipe the interior, they use the same dirty towels just used to dry the car! I saw so many high end cars - including LS430, and the owners just dont care!
SW03ES Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Any type of car wash where someone other than you (including machines) touches your car is a definite nono. Was this a touchless wash (only high pressure water) or a full tunnel brushless wash? Touchless washes are fine as long as you dont dry the car without a QD first.
Lexus. Posted December 9, 2003 Author Posted December 9, 2003 touchless, with one of those big rag strips for pre-drying. When it came out of the machine, a tunnel maybe 400 feet long, with various, multi-stage soaps, chemicals, rinses, it was manually dried off by a two man crew. You cant blame the finishers - mostly high school kids on min. wage, some saturdays there were a line of 30 cars waiting, they really cant devote that much care and time per car.
SW03ES Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Yeah, not good. I use one at a gas station that is just a sit still deal and the wand moves around the car but we have one like that one here too. Nothing dries the car at the one I use but air, its totally self serve.
