dick0149 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 i have a 93 sc400.. never had any problems until recently. the ac simply won't blow cold air. the add engine coolant light came on so i added more antifreeze, it started blowing a little cooler, so i figured i had to charge the refridgerant uses r-134 an it's suppossed to read between 25 an 45 to be fully charged but when i hooked up the can an got the initial psi reading from it , it read 90 psi (BAD) !!! any idea's on the prob??? i apreciate the help
jzz30 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 the gauge will read 25-45 psi only when the compressor is running. the fact that there is still gas in the system but your ac doesnt turn on says that there is a slow leak and the pressure dropped below threshold so the compressor wont turn on. take it to an ac shop with a sniffer and they can determine where its leaking from while there is still gas in there.
