Brendon Bosy Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I just got a quick question, why did the 1998-2000 GS400's engine make 300 HP @ 6000 rpm and 310 ft-lbs @ 4000 rpm, while the same engine in the SC400/LS400 made 290 HP and 300 ft-lbs torque at the same rpms? As far as I can tell, all three models used the exact same engine, our 4.0L V8 with vvt-i.
jzz30 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 it could be something simple such as intake route or exhaust route
UCF3 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I'd say the exhaust Route, but I think it was a marketing scheme. their target audience were 5series and E-class customers.
Brendon Bosy Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't entirely sure. If they did tweak with the exhaust or intact, I'd expect the peak power or torque to hit later, but the power and torque hits exactly at the same rpm as the SC/LS.
