Starting Problems

Recommended Posts

Lately I am having problem of starting my 2000 es 300 in the morning. I have to push on the gas pedal a bit to avoid the engine from dying. The problem is that it only happens randomly and difficult to predict. Any idea is appreciated.

Sounds like the idle air control (IAC) valve may be getting dirty. Seems to be a fairly common problem.... happened to my wife's 98 ES300 at 45,000 miles! Some dealers clean the valve while others replace it. Cost can run $200-$400. Was able to take care of the problem myself with a can of CRC Air Intake cleaner.

Best regards, Martin T.
